When I was a kid, my local library had "The secret Story of Marvel's cosmic powered quartet" along with the spider-man, hulk, and captain america books in that series. These books were my first exposure to comics (other than the Lou Ferrigno hulk show/adam west batman/max fleischer superman), so I feel like I actually started at issue #1 for all those characters. I've been a marvel fanboy since, never could get into DC in quite the same way. Now, the books are aimed at a younger audience, but if you want a cheap way to own the original origins of those characters, there are worse ways to go.

Fantastic Four #12 featured the first clash with the Incredible Hulk! The beginning of the rivalry between the Hulk and the Thing.

@Krusiv said: getting 's. I gotta say though I absolutely loved it! My favorite issue from it is 73Fantastic Four #604. Definitely!

Now I am working my way through the Stan Lee & Jack Kirby run. It was slow to start at first, but now I look forward to each and every issue. It's magic I tell ya.

The best story arch of the Lee Kirby run were issues #39 -51 you had the Inhumans saga, the Galactus storyline..The Frightful Four turning Ben against the team
There were other highlights throughout the Lee Kirby run. But that's when those two peaked...Jacks last ish was #102 but even before then you can tell he was burning out.
Also being disgruntled over watching other people get rich off his creations didn't help his creativity.
Near the end of Kirbys era because of his dissatisfaction he was probably only doing it for the buck
I mean look how he was doing less panels per page.
I liked what Conway did when he took over from Roy Thomas its a shame Conways run was so short..I never liked the Byrne era.
While a fan of Byrnes artwork i always thought his scripting paled
in comparison to his drawing. The first FF ish i ever read was #141 i paid 20 cents for it back in
1973 and it made me a Fan!

A nice Grant Morrison story for the Fantastic Four.I always enjoy when Dr Doom tries to use his skills and focus into humiliating the First Family, because modern Doom fills distanced or friendenemy to F4,instead of an arch-enemy figue.

I'd like to make this thread more active, so I'm rechristening it with a new title: The Legacy of the Fantastic Four. I'm going to try and post more actively within it. Feel free to post your favorite comics, character quotes, discuss the comics and characters, and post artwork relating to the Fantastic Four. Also feel free to discuss comics featuring members of the Fantastic Four where the Four guest star or have their own series. A few examples of this would be issues of Marvel Two in One and Marvel Teamup. I'm going to kick it off with some great artwork I've found recently featuring the Super Skrull.

Here's an image to represent the constant clash between the Hulk and Thing.

George Perez artwork. I've always really liked his artwork and covers of other books.

There were many great moments in FF history but the sequence is what defined not just the FF but Marvel itself.

That was such a great run. The first appearence of the Inhumans, Galactus, and the Silver Surfer. The two issue series with Daredevil and Doom is one that I have always wanted to read, but have never been able to. Those Frightful Four issues were great as well, perhaps the best Frightful Four issues, though I do have a soft spot for the Frightful Four issue below because it was one of my earliest comics.

Another set of favourites from the post-Lee/Kirby era. Best Moleman story, a revitalised Frightful Four and lots of focus on the Thing and, oh, so much pathos!
