This patch marks the anniversary of Marvel Heroes and the first release of Marvel Heroes 2015!
During the One Year Anniversary of Marvel Heroes and the launch of our new “2015” season, we’ll be thanking players with a gift (or a series of 365 gifts.)
To receive the gift, you only have to talk to accept the remote mission, then speak to a very special S.H.I.E.L.D. agent in Avengers Tower with any level 30+ hero. He’ll be giving out gifts until next week’s patch (6/12 estimate.)
The gifts include everything from an assortment of various special-events items from the past year, a stack of retcon potions, several unique items, a fresh new S.T.A.S.H. tab and the highly-anticipated Punisher “Omega Effect” costume.
Additionally, we’re going to be boosting XP, RIF & SIF by 50% until Sunday evening, as well as cosmic chest rewards by 50%! That being said, the Marvel Heroes anniversary doesn’t only last for one week, we’ll be rolling out other big features through June such as login rewards, Silver Surfer, and more.
S.H.I.E.L.D. Omega System
The S.H.I.E.L.D. Omega System is a Hero Augmentation system for Marvel Heroes, allowing heroes to earn “Omega Points” via a shared account-wide experience pool. Omega Points can be spent on various advancements in S.H.I.E.L.D. research, organized by various S.H.I.E.L.D. research divisions: Nanotechnology, Human Augmentation, Psionics, Special Weaponry, Arcane Attunement, Radioactive Origins, and Molecular Adjustment.
The Omega System is launching in beta due to the immense amount of bonuses available - some may change over the next few weeks. When we feel it's in a great spot, we'll be removing the beta tag and giving all players a free respec.
Shared Quests are super-sized quests that are automatically shared with all players, allowing them to be seamlessly completed by groups or individuals, regardless of level, group status, difficulty mode or location.
All players receive the same Shared Quests each day. New ones are assigned each day, generally including a Midtown Patrol quest, a quest to defeat threats in Terminals and a quest in X-Defense or S.H.I.E.L.D. Holo-Sim.
Three Shared Quests exist each day. You may complete any of them any number of times. As soon as you complete a Shared Quest, you will immediately begin earning progress towards the next one. Shared Quests may be completed alongside or in place of Legendary Quests, sharing credit at all times.
Rewards for Quests include Odin Marks, credits, experience orbs and random gear of all possible rarities and types, based on the difficulty of the Shared Quest.
The first time you complete each of the Shared Quests, each day, you will receive a bonus loot chest and an Omega Orb.
Overall: Shared Quests are better than Legendary Quests in almost every way and were designed from the ground up to allow players to seamlessly play together regardless of small level fluctuations, group size, favorite play style, game session length, etc.
For example: Players who prefer X-Defense or Terminals or Midtown can now play those modes exclusively and have access to all the rewards they would get from Legendary Quests, and more.
Our first patch of the new 2015 “season” for Marvel Heroes includes a somewhat historical inclusion: the first large-scale Raid feature for an ARPG.
Using the S.H.I.E.L.D. Waypoint interface, players can set the Raid on Muspelheim from the Challenge section.
Players can queue as a group or individually for the raid.
For the first couple of weeks, Raids will be in full public open beta. You will retain any gear you acquire, but official achievements will not count for a couple of weeks until the beta tag is removed.
The first two raid encounters (Hellfire and Brimstone and Overseer Slag) are unlocked now. The remaining encounter progression will be unlocked over the course of Anniversary month.
The launch of raids currently includes Normal / “Green” difficulty. This is the default difficulty for the raids. Once Surtur is defeated for the first time, by any group, the Red / “Hard Mode” raid will be unlocked.
All encounters will be unlocked on test center and feedback is very much welcome.

Secure Trading is now available! To trade with another player, Ctrl+Click on their hero or their icon in the social menu and select Trade!
The Swap Blessings recipe is now back to regular price after being “free” for awhile.
Costume Affix crafting costs have been returned to their original price after also being "free" for some time.
After analyzing the range of rolls that a costume affix could roll, we have made adjustments to many of the affixes to create a better player experience while crafting costume affixes. Here's a summary of the changes:
Insignia and Rings drop in slightly higher quantities and from X-Defense loot chests, Holo-Sim loot chests and bosses and normal enemies throughout the game.
Most bosses now have gear replacing one or more of their Medi Kits on their loot tables.
Gear Slots 1-5 will now show Item Grade on their tooltip. This is referred to as “Item Level” in other RPGs. It’s usually 3 levels higher than the level required to equip, except in the case of Legendary items and upcoming Uniques items that can roll a higher item grade.
Rare (Blue) Team-Up Gear can now drop.
With this patch, we’ve made significant improvements to several components of the power system and rebuilt team-buffs to give everyone utility in large group situations if they desire (including raids and other group content).
Higher Cap on Item Ranks
Powers may now scale to 50 ranks. 30 may come from items (10 more than before) and 20 from power point allocation (as before).
This is the most significant change in the new system and will obviously provide more itemization options since players are no longer constrained by a +20 to skills maximum.
More Power Points
Rather than gaining 2 power points for every level, players will now gain 2 points from levels 2-29, 3 from 30-59, and 4 points when reaching the maximum level of 60.
More Unified Power Scaling
For most powers, each point in that power now increases its benefits by an average of 10%. As a result, some powers' rank 1 values have been reduced, and rank 40 values have been increased, making high-ranked powers have more impact on player builds.
Now that players have additional power points and a higher cap to powers ranks (now 50), they will be able to make more significant choices with their builds and itemization.
Total Damage over Base Damage
Hero powers that have conditional bonus damage (such as vs. Slow or Vs Bosses) now affect the total damage output of the power, rather than the base damage. This allows those powers to retain their effectiveness throughout the game, and scale better with player gear.
This will make powers that offer bonus damage vs. bosses MUCH better for end-game players.
If a power tooltip says just “Damage”, it refers to total damage increase, while “Base Damage” refers to the affix as it existed previously.
Items and Synergies are unaffected by this change.
Now that this tech exists for damage curve equations, we will be able to apply to a few other powers, including things like Emma Frost’s Psychic Domination.
This is still in a tuning state and total numbers may be increased or decreased in the coming weeks as appropriate. We’re sure there are a few things that have been missed, so we’ll be paying very close attention in the next few days.
Charge Up Powers
Due to implementation of total damage modifiers described above, the bonus has been decreased from 200% base damage to 100% total damage increase for fully charging the power. Animation times have been normalized for most charge-up to ensure comparable damage.
New Team Buff System - Categorical Team Buffs
To ensure every hero has a role in raids and harder content, without a lot of drama, all team buffs have been broken down into categories, and no two of the same category will stack.
Overall, this change will make team and raid composition easier to manage, and allow players to benefit their team without investing a large portion of their power points to do so.

3% of base health regenerated per second (210 @ 60)
10% Projectile Deflection chance & 10 Dodge Rating Per Level (600 @ 60)

14 Defense Rating Per Level (840 @ 60), 15% of base health added to maximum (1050 @ 60)
Ultimate Buff Categories
Empowered – Increases damage output by 40%
Unbreakable – Reduces incoming damage by 40%
Powers that had a range exceeding the size of the screen have been adjusted down to exactly full screen.
Individual Hero Changes
Exalted of Bast (Ultimate) – The Movement speed and Critical Rating components of this buff now only affect Panther himself. Damage Rating to teammates has been replaced with Empowered.
Unseen Predator – Now causes all allies to become invisible. Dodge Rating has been replaced with Critical Rating, which now only affects Black Panther. Allies affected cannot be made invisible again for 30 seconds. Invisibility is no longer attached to the smoke cloud visual.
Dora Milaje - Now provide Dexterity to Panther and his allies, and have an unlimited summon duration.
Knockdown Sweep - the 200% base damage bonus while stealthed has been converted to 100% total damage (along with all other 200% bonuses)
Red Room Reflexes – On critically striking, Widow and teammates now gain Accuracy.
Micro-Drones has had its cooldown increased to 3s and damage increased as a result. The animation has also been removed.
Black Widow's Widowmaker bonus has been increased from a 100% damage bonus to a 250% damage bonus.
Bold Aura – Current buff effects have been replaced with Power. Maximum spirit reduction now starts higher, but reduces in cost with points until it is free.
Vigilant Aura - Current buff effects have been replaced with Toughness. Maximum spirit reduction now starts higher, but reduces in cost with points until it is free. Projectile evasion from former Vigilant Aura moved to Telekinetic Mastery.
Telekinetic Mastery - Damage Rating has moved to Veteran Warrior.
Veteran Warrior - Now also provides a small amount of Movement Speed in addition to its other effects.
Dynamic Aura - Current buff effects have been replaced with Endurance. Maximum spirit reduction now starts higher, but reduces in cost with points until it is free.
Aggressive Shout - Current buff effects have been replaced with Power. Maximum spirit reduction now starts higher, but reduces in cost with points until it is free.
Invigorating Shout - Current buff effects have been replaced with Toughness. Maximum spirit reduction now starts higher, but reduces in cost with points until it is free.
Spirited Shout - Current buff effects have been replaced with Endurance. Maximum spirit reduction now starts higher, but reduces in cost with points until it is free.
Fighting Spirit - Now temporarily grants all 3 ‘Shout’ buffs to the team. Damage rating and defense rating buffs buffed ~25%, and are now localized to Cap.
Inspiring Battlecry - Current buff effects have been replaced with Power. Maximum spirit reduction now starts higher, but reduces in cost with points until it is free.
Vanguard Aura - Current buff effects have been replaced with Toughness. Maximum spirit reduction now starts higher, but reduces in cost with points until it is free.
Sustaining Presence - Current buff effects have been replaced with Endurance. Maximum spirit reduction now starts higher, but reduces in cost with points until it is free.
Heavy Metal - Current buff effects have been replaced with Unbreakable.
Fastball Special – Wolverine’s aura effects have been replaced with Accuracy.
Bond of Bloodline – Magik now applies Constitution to nearby allies rather than restoring health per hit.
Metallic Warrior - Damage rating bonuses increased 13%.
Reeling Punch - Spirit restoration on hit no longer affects allies. The power has been moved to the Mutant Powerhouse tree.
Steel Punch - now gives 1% total damage per 500 defense rating
Colossal Punch - Now gives 1% total damage per 500 maximum health
Crushing Smite now has an additional DoT effect in addition to it’s direct damage.
Metallic Warrior has been merged with Osmium Champion. Metallic Warrior has been removed as a power. The Critical and Brutal bonuses of Osmium Champion have been slightly increased.
Demolition Stomp’s vulnerability base duration increased to 6 seconds.
Fissure now causes the ground to violently shake, dealing damage to enemies who stand within the area. The power is now keyworded as Melee instead of Ranged.
Precision Combat - Current buff effects have been replaced with Endurance. Cyclops’ personal chance to apply a DoT remains local to himself.
Defensive Tactician – Removed as a power. Team Leader now grants Dexterity to Cyclops and his teammates.
Uncanny Focus - Dodge Rating bonus increased 50%.
Veteran Command - Buff effects are now localized to Cyclops. Damage rating bonus increased 50%. Attack & Move Speed bonuses increased 20%. Cooldown flattened at all ranks to 1 minute. Duration now scales with power points. Still revives up to 1 nearby ally.
Precision Combat now grants Critical Rating in addition to its other effects.
Devil of Hell's Kitchen - On critically striking, Daredevil and teammates now gain Accuracy
Born Again - Now grants Constitution to the team for a long duration.
Power Ups - Hulk Doll current buff effects have been replaced with Toughness. Winged Shoe current buff effects have been replaced with Power. Teddy bear current buff effects have been replaced with Constitution. Duration and duration scaling increased.
Deadpool now has a new power: Not-So-Minigun! The Not-So-Minigun features Deadpool unleashing a hail of bullets at an enemy, dealing 40% extra damage to bosses and elites.
Superior Healing Factor - Healing amount increased 20%.
God Mode - Passive Defense Rating increased 15%.
Seal of the Vishanti - Current buff effects replaced with Power & Toughness.
Shield of the Seraphim – Now grants Constitution to him and teammates for a duration equal to Shield's cooldown. Damage shield and healing effect localized to Strange.
Unlock Potential – Now causes all allies to become invisible. Allies affected cannot be made invisible again for 30 seconds. Damage Rating is now localized to Emma Frost. Passively grants an Accuracy aura to Emma and her teammates. Duration is now 5 seconds with a 30 second cooldown.
Telepathy – Health regeneration effect converted to Constitution.
Mental Cloaking – Effects are now localized to Emma Frost.
Gleaming Strike - now gives 1% total damage per 500 defense rating
Emma Frost now has a new diamond form power - Diamond Crush. Diamond Crush is a massive melee punch that deals extra damage to bleeding targets.
Ragin’ Cajun – Critical Rating buff is now localized to Gambit. Sticky Fingers now provides Dexterity.
Protect the Innocents - Now triggers Unbreakable with no damage cap, rather than a damage-capped 100% shield.
Precise Aim - On critically striking, Hawkeye and teammates now gain Accuracy
Starktech Medical Arrow – Healing effects replaced with Constitution and Toughness. Cooldown removed. Arrows summoned will replace previous arrows. Area duration now starts slightly lower and scales up with ranks.
Hulk Tough - now grants Toughness to Hulk's team.
Thermal Intensity – Damage Rating vs Burning enemies has been replaced with Power, granted to allies who strike burning enemies.
Protective Spheres – Defense Rating and Block Chance are now local to Invisible Woman, and have been migrated to Invisible Combat. Protective Spheres has been removed as a power.
Resonating Wave - Now grants a long duration Endurance buff to the team rather than restoring a flat amount of spirit. Additionally, the power now deals double damage when used while Invisible.
Conceal Allies - Duration increased to 5 seconds, cooldown increased to 30 seconds. Damage Rating buff now localized to Invisible Woman.
Shield Dome – Buff effects replaced with Toughness. Duration increased to 8 seconds. No longer costs Focus.
Unibeam - now gives 1% total damage per 100 shield capacity (assuming at least 25% shield remaining to consume)
Deployable Medic – Healing effect replaced with Constitution. Cooldown removed. Medics summoned will replace previous medics.
Rejuvenating Aura - Current buff effects have been replaced with Endurance. Maximum spirit reduction now starts higher, but reduces in cost with points until it is free.
Reinforcing Aura - Current buff effects have been replaced with Toughness. Maximum spirit reduction now starts higher, but reduces in cost with points until it is free.
Exhilirating Aura - Current buff effects have been replaced with Accuracy. Maximum spirit reduction now starts higher, but reduces in cost with points until it is free.
Neural Panic – Healing effect replaced with “When you or your allies strike an afflicted enemy, gain Constitution for a short duration”
Telepathic Detection - Critical Rating bonus increased 50%.
Phoenix Avatar - Now provides additional Movement Speed to Jean.
Enemy Of My Enemy – Power has been removed. Damage Rating vs Chilled has been replaced with “When you or your allies strike a chilled enemy, gain Power”, and placed onto Jotun Blood. Flat damage rating has been localized to Loki and has moved to Master Sorceror.
Tactical Offense – Now provides Toughness to cage and his teammates. Critical Rating removed, Superhuman Leverage critical rating increased. Now also grants bonus damage to summoned allies, scaling with ranks.
Iron Fist - Current aura effects have been replaced with Dexterity.
Jessica Jones - Current aura effects have been replaced with Endurance.
Misty Knight - Current aura effects have been replaced with Accuracy.
Colleen Wing - Current aura effects have been replaced with Power.
Cage Fighting's final hit now does 150% of previous hits
Statue of Khonshu - Khonshu now only blesses Moon Knight with additional damage rating.
Multiple Personalities - Now includes a 'Moon Knight' section, which grants Power to the team.
Fist of Khonshu - Damage Rating bonus has been increased.
Crescent Dart Fan - Power now deals the same damage to all enemies within the area of effect, rather than dealing damage per crescent dart. The radius has been increased 50%.
Flight of the Warbird - Current buff effects have been replaced with Power.
Binary Overdrive (Ultimate) - Fixed an issue with the calculation of this power causing the Damage over Time component to be dealing twice as much damage as intended.
Kree Toughness - Damage Rating bonus increased 20%. Now gives normal damage rating instead of melee.
Cosmic Haymaker now deals 40% more damage to bosses and elites.
Might Punch now restores spirit on hit rather than additional damage to bosses and elites.
Obscuring Brimstone - Now causes all allies to become invisible. Dodge Rating has been replaced with Critical Rating, which now only affects Nightcrawler. Allies affected cannot be made invisible again for 30 seconds. Invisibility is no longer attached to the smoke cloud visual.
One Step Ahead - Now also grants Dexterity to Nightcrawler and his teammates.
Psionic Resilience – Health regeneration effect converted to Constituion.
Assassinate now has the “Execute” affix and increased damage.
Psionic Bow and Crossbow Construct have swapped unlock levels (now 6 and 47, respectively)
Driven by Vengeance - On critically striking, Punisher and teammates now gain Accuracy
Lock and Load - Now removes crowd control effects and prevents them for a short duration. Spirit restored increased ~40%. The cooldown has been increased, but scales down with ranks.
Increased the duration of Flamethrower’s Damage over Time effect.
Increased the duration of Flechette Blast’s Damage over Time effect.
Punisher's Killer Instinct Passive now grants half of the damage rating vs. unaware bonus as a damage rating.
Shrewd Dude – Aura effect converted to Dexterity. Dodge Rating bonus to Rocket increased 20%.
Warding Veil – Redesigned. Now grants constitution to nearby allies. No longer negates damaging areas.
Chaos Warp - Damage Reduction is now local to Scarlet Witch.
Obfuscation has gained the bonus to maximum spirit from Chaos Magic.
Chaos Magic now increases critical rating.
Superior Agility's triggered buff now grants Endurance to Spidey and his amazing friends.
Squirrel Distraction - Squirrel Heart now provides Dexterity to Squirrel Girl and her team passively.
Refreshing Breeze – Aura effects converted to Toughness. Health regeneration is now localized to Storm.
Quickening Breeze - Aura effects converted to Dexterity. Movement speed is now localized to Storm.
Goddess of Weather (Ultimate) – Buff effects converted to Empowered.
Flawless Emulation - Now grants Accuracy for Taskmaster and his allies when he uses a Captain or Devil power, and grants Dexterity when using a Spider or Archer power. These effects have replaced the damage/critical rating extra bonus and dodge/defense rating extra bonus, respectively.
Aggressive Aura - Current buff effects have been replaced with Accuracy. Maximum spirit reduction now starts higher, but reduces in cost with points until it is free.
Guardian Aura - Current buff effects have been replaced with Toughness. Maximum spirit reduction now starts higher, but reduces in cost with points until it is free.
Steadfast Aura - Current buff effects have been replaced with Endurance. Maximum spirit reduction now starts higher, but reduces in cost with points until it is free.
Pulverizing Fury (Ultimate) – Buff effects converted to Empowered. Damage Negation is now local to Thing.
Hard as Rock - Damage Rating bonus increased 25%.
Bash - Now has a 5 second cooldown, has a higher chance to brutally strike, and deals much higher damage. The cooldown is reduced by 0.5 seconds when Thing takes damage.
Crushing Leap - Cooldown increased to 8 seconds, damage increased significantly. The cooldown is reduced by 0.5 seconds when Thing takes damage. Power now knocks down instead of knocks up, and knockdown duration scales with ranks.
Clobberin’ Time - Cooldown and duration scaling removed. The cooldown is reduced by 0.5 seconds when Thing takes damage.
Backhand Smash - Now deals bonus damage to bosses.
Brickyard Headbutt - This power now causes deep internal injuries to the enemy’s cranium, dealing damage over time.
Ground Smash - Now causes vulnerability.
Bruising Punch - Now restores Granite Defense per hit. No longer causes vulnerability.
Rocky Punch - Now restores spirit per hit.
Directed Shockwave is now keyworded as melee instead of ranged.
All-Father’s Boon (Ultimate) – Health regeneration and bonus to power ranks is now local to Thor. Bonus to attributes removed. Now grants Empowered to Thor and all allies.
Immortal Combat - Now provides Toughness to the team when hitting with a melee power. Buff duration increased to 10 seconds.
Storm Strike - Targeting is now much improved by using a melee cone rather than requiring mouse over target
Feral Roar – Now grants Accuracy to Wolverine and his teammates for a long duration.
Furious Assault - Finishing hit now does 50% more damage than previous hits
Wolverine now gains 25 Fury when attacked as indicated by the tooltip (instead of 20)
The Sentinel Invasion boss affix is now capped at three total Sentinels summoned.
Team-Up Spider-Man: Amazing Spider's now uses the Team-Up power curve instead of player power curve.
Timed Explosives now correctly taunts enemies for 1.5 seconds.
Fixed an issue with Crimson Leap and Eviscerate which were causing them to deal more damage than intended.
