Our defense system review back in September helped put hero survivability in a good place.
For this mid-November patch, we wanted to introduce some improvements to pets to help them survive certain situations and work consistently. Here is the current patch notes slated for the patch in test center right now.
Our first PVP mode has been in public beta testing for a couple of days. We believe it will require approximately 6 weeks of testing and iteration to works out the kinks, deal with any abusive mechanics and achieve a reasonable level of balance (PVP can never be perfectly balanced, which is fine). We realize that only a portion of Marvel Heroes players will utilize PVP, but we intend to make it fun for those players who enjoy participating. Once this PVP mode has been balanced and is working well, we’ll add a couple more PVP modes with a greater range of objectives, more sophisticated map, etc.
After about 48 hours of PVP beta testing, we have some good data and observations to start working towards a reasonable level of balance. We monitor each match for “fun factor” and review data for every element of PVP.
Below is the first list of changes to be tested. Most of them will be quite obvious to those who are playing in the initial beta test of PVP:
The effectiveness of player Dodge Rating is reduced by 30% in PVP when fighting enemy players or defenders.
PVP Runestones are now homing like Orbs, which will make them easier to pick up.
Players will be notified when any player is defeated (“Ryolnir has been defeated by Ice Golem”).
Defenders and Guardians have had their health and damage increased in higher-level PVP modes. It will now scale properly in the level 60 version of PvP. This is a tuning adjustment to help mitigate base rushing
Deadpool's God Mode now has a 4 minute cooldown in PvP modes.
Items that provide invulnerability now have a 90s cooldown in PvP modes.
Many melee heroes and heroes who haven’t had their design review will now deal extra damage and defense in PVP modes.
Spider-Man deals 30% less damage in PVP and Iron-Man deals 20% less damage in PVP. Once all heroes have their design reviews, this adjustment should no longer be needed.
Iron Man's One-Off now deals 50% less damage in PVP and has an increased cooldown. This is an initial step towards balancing it in PVP. The PVE damage and cooldown is unchanged, of course.
Deadpool’s Armor Buster: Now deals much less damage against Defenders and Guardians in PvP
Defender and Guardian shots now remove invulnerability shields as they open fire on players in PVP.
Scarlet Witch’s Ultimate can no longer destroy Defenders or Guardians in PvP.
We’ve made various optimization changes in this patch, the most significant of which is designed to greatly reduce or eliminate “hitching” when loading new characters or enemies. This is seen as a large drop in framerate just as players approach a boss battle in Midtown or a clump of players in a social hub.
In addition, we’ve also made many changes to obscurement technology to ensure that in busy fights, players are able to see their hero and their enemies more clearly. This may result in some powers appearing more transparent during intense battles. We intend to iterate on this technology over the next several months, so please give feedback on powers you think should be reduced more or less during heavy battles. Each one is tunable individually.
We have repackaged our audio files in order to make patching a smoother experience in the future, but it has resulted in this patch being larger than usual.
Juggernaut’s charge power will now have the same indicator as Rhino’s.
Odin’s blacksmith’s have added the top 500 (actually 502) players from the recent Asgard unlock event to a statue in Asgard. We will be delivering rewards in the next couple of weeks to all players. They will be automatically delivered after the next patch, in late November or early December.
Fixed an issue that caused players to be locked in place in Kurse's instance after defeating the 3 lieutenants.
When Emma Frost mind controls an enemy that give mission rewards on death, the mission will complete successfully.
Domino has replaced Gambit as the Fortune Card vendor! Domino will be added to the game at a future date, but not in the next few months, so she has agreed to perform this important duty for now.
New Hero Added: Gambit
New Costume: Gambit Classic
New Costume: Luke Cage Noir
The A.I.M. Weapons Factory has a progression blocker in the daily terminal.
Gambit's Costume Core is incorrectly Radioactive Isotope. It will be changed to X-Gene in the next patch. It will not affect your currently slotted cores.
Gambit will automatically receive a respec on logging in until level 5.
